1- Zine Meeting
I just wanted to remind everyone about the meeting that will be taking place in the Womyn's Centre tomorrow (Thursday, July 26th) @ 3:00
This is open to ANYONE interested in being a part of a zine that the centre will collectively be creating and distributing, starting in September. (The first issue will be in the frosh packs).
So if you have anything to contribute- thoughts, ideas, opinions, skills, experience- or even if you have never been involved in this type of project before but are interested in taking part, we would love to see you there!
ps- just a heads up: we need a name as well as a logo, so if you have any suggestions, bring them with you tomorrow!
2- Atlantic Waves Conference
Everyone on this E-Mail list should have received a copy of the Atlantic Waves Conference's call for submissions by now, so if you have not- please let me know and I'll get a copy out to you right away! It will come from atlanticwavesconference@yahoo.ca- so if you see this message in your inbox, be sure to read it!! And tell all of your friends about it too!!
3- Board Meeting
There will be a meeting for the Board members of the Womyn's Centre on Friday, August 4th at 12:00 in the centre. This is for existing members who wish to continue sitting, as well as an opportunity for new members to become involved. The board will meet once a month, so for those of you who would like to be involved this year- we welcome you! All that we ask is that you are prepared to commit to this monthly meeting :)
4- Study of Lesbian and Bisexual Women's Health and Well-Being
If you are a woman who is at least 18 and currently in a same-sex relationship of at least 3 months' duration, researchers at the University of New Brunswick would welcome your participation in an annonymous on-line survey.

6- Peace Day
Sunday, August 6th is the second annual Peace Day in Halifax. For more information or to help please, please contact the Halifax Peace Coalition

7- I'm coming! A Guide to Women's Orgasm: workshop @ Venus Envy
Some women never experience orgasm, some can have orgasms once in awhile, or on their own, or never on their own, or ... you get the picture. The female orgasm can sometimes be rather elusive, and that can be okay, but it can also be very frustrating. This session will look at some of the reasons women have difficulty with orgasm, offer suggestions around play to enhance sexual feelings, as well as covering important anatomical information. Discussion includes g-spot, clitoris, and tips to use both alone and with a partner.
Date: August 3rd, 2006
Time: 7:15pm (2 hours)
for everyone
Cost: $20.00 (limited income $10.00)
8- Cheap Thrills: DIY Sex Toys: Workshop @ Venus Envy
You may never see your house, the hardware store or grocery store the same way again. Kinky sex doesn't have to be expensive—this workshop will show you how to transform everyday mundane items into sex toys.
Date: August 8th, 2006
Time: 6:15pm (1.5 hours)
for everyone
Cost:$20.00 (limited income $10.00)
9- The Vagina Dialogues: Workshop @ Venus Envy
Women are taught very little about how their cunts work. What's within the range of normal and what's not can be very confusing, even to the person who owns the anatomy. This workshop aims to not only clear away confusion and dispel myths, but to get gals thinking about their genitals in a happy way. We'll cover anatomy, toys and slippery stuff, communication skills, and why knowing how to do a self-exam is important and empowering.
Date: August 10th, 2006
Time: 7:15pm (1.5 hours)
for women
Cost: $20.00 (limited income $10.00)
10- Volunteers
I'm in the process of creating an "office hours" schedule for the month of August, so existing volunteers- if you would like to continue your current hours, could you please confirm that with me? (by the end of this week, if possible)
Also- anyone else who would like to donate some time, (consistency is more important than quantity!), please let me know! We want to keep the door to the centre open as often as possible, so that all of the womyn on campus can take advantage of what our wonderful centre has to offer!
Even if you can only commit to one hour a week, we welcome your contribution!
I hope you are all able to take advantage of these fabulously feminist opportunities! Have a great week!
