Back to School!

I just have a few things to share with you as you're getting settled back into the school routine :)

1- The Zine
2- The Society Expo
3- Volunteers
4- Board Meeting
5- Childcare

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1- The first issue of our zine (Speak Up!) is available in the Women's Centre and at various locations around campus as well as at the society expo on September 7th; I urge everyone to check it out! Please send any comments/criticisms/suggestions my way so we can make it the best that it can be. And if anyone has something that they would like to share with the Saint Mary's community, feel free to write to us or stop by the centre so we can get our voices out there :)

2- The Society Expo is taking place on Thursday, September 7th from 11:30am- 2:30pm, so if anyone is able to contribute an hour or so to wo/man the table it would be greatly appreciated! Let me know!

3- A number of you have expressed interest in taking on some office hours in September... well- it's September! :P So please let me know which hours you would prefer so that I can get the schedule finalized- or you can sign up on the sheet posted on the door of the Women's Centre. We need your help so that we can keep our door open!

4- Could existing Board members and anyone that is interested in sitting on the Board this year please let me know what their availability is like- I would like to schedule a meeting for sometime next week if possible. We have so much to talk about!

5- I am interested in speaking to other (solo) parents at SMU about their experiences with availability of classes around daycare/elementary school schedules, as well as lunchtime care for their children. The lack of accessibility creates problems that need to be addressed, and I would like to see what WE can do to improve this situation (perhaps we can develop a child care co-op of sorts?) Please get in touch if this situation is affecting you and your access to your university education- we can help each other!

I wish everyone the best of luck with the new school year, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone that has been away for the summer! Stop by the centre to say hi!

Holly.
